As we approach the exam and study season, I am in regular contact with some students and arrange weekly meetings to help them manage their time and stress effectively. I am also in touch with parents, as their insights are extremely valuable. I strongly believe that student success is a team effort — the college, students, and parents must work together to achieve the best outcomes.

Term Highlights

Our students have achieved excellent outcomes in this year’s UCAS cycle, securing offers from 24 leading universities across the UK. Notably, 63% of these offers have come from Russell Group institutions, reflecting the strength of their applications and academic preparation. These results highlight both the ambition of our students and the effectiveness of the support they receive throughout the university application process, enabling them to progress confidently to highly competitive institutions. Additionally, our University Foundation Programme students have secured offers from 87% of their university applications. As international students, their hard work and perseverance have paid off, and we wish them all the best.

The Year 12 Human Sciences group project was a very successful and enjoyable experience. Each student presented a section of the project linked both to the main topic and to the subject they are planning to study at university in the future. This made the presentations more meaningful and academically focused. The students worked very well as a team, supporting each other and organising the project responsibly. The quality of the presentations was highly academic, and the students demonstrated strong research, communication, and critical thinking skills. We are very proud of their work, and it is clear that a bright future lies ahead for this group.

Our students recently took part in a Model United Nations conference hosted by Guildhouse School, where they delivered an outstanding performance and were awarded first place. Throughout the event, they engaged in thoughtful debate, demonstrated strong public speaking skills, and approached complex global issues with confidence and insight. Their ability to collaborate, negotiate, and present well-reasoned arguments reflected both their preparation and their commitment to academic excellence. Experiences such as MUN play an important role in developing key skills including leadership, critical thinking, and effective communication, and we are incredibly proud of how our students represented LSI College.

In addition, some students received presents from the Principal in recognition of their achievements, including 100% attendance and achieving the highest number of Green Points (thumbs up) for going above and beyond in their studies and extracurricular activities. These awards recognise not only academic effort but also commitment, responsibility, and positive contribution to college life. We are very proud of these students and hope their achievements will encourage others to aim high and make the most of their time at the college.

Exam Advice

As exam season approaches, it’s important for students to prioritise both preparation and wellbeing. Simple habits such as maintaining a consistent study routine, taking regular breaks, and ensuring enough sleep can make a significant difference to focus and retention. Incorporating light exercise, staying organised with a revision plan, and setting realistic goals can also help reduce feelings of overwhelm. By building a balanced approach to revision, students are better able to stay calm, motivated, and confident in the lead-up to their exams.
